The Claim Process Made Simple

Straight forward process for roof repair or replacement.

The team at PRQ Exteriors is dedicated to making this process as seamless and easy as possible. We will manage all aspects of the project from filing the claim, applying for permits, and instaling a beautiful new roof.

File a Claim

If we’ve identified damage that qualifies for insurance coverage, the first step is opening a claim with your insurance provider. This is simply letting them know that a storm event has affected your property. PRQ guides you through this call so you know exactly what to say and what to expect next. Once the claim is filed, your insurance carrier will assign an adjuster to inspect your roof. We’ll stay in close communication during this stage, making sure the claim is properly documented and that the process moves smoothly right from the start. Our role from day one is to help you avoid confusion, delays, and unnecessary back-and-forth with insurance.

Adjuster Meeting

After your claim is filed, your insurance company will schedule an adjuster to visit your home and inspect the roof. This is a key moment in the process, and PRQ will be there with you. Our project manager meets the adjuster on-site to ensure all storm-related damage is clearly identified and properly documented. We walk the roof together, reference industry standards and local building codes, and advocate for a full and accurate scope of repairs. This step is not about being confrontational—it’s about making sure your home is restored to pre-storm condition, with all necessary components included. Your role here is simple: just let us know the adjuster’s appointment time, and we handle the rest.

Labor Meeting

Once your claim has been approved and we are preparing for installation, we’ll schedule a brief Labor Meeting—typically via Zoom. The purpose of this meeting is to review the project details, confirm color selections, discuss access to the property, and outline what to expect on installation day.

We’ll walk through things like driveway clearance, pets, landscaping considerations, delivery timing, and where materials will be staged. This step ensures our crews can work efficiently and respectfully while protecting your home and property throughout the process.

The main goal of the Labor Meeting is clarity. When everyone knows what to expect, the installation goes smoothly and stress-free.

Submit Material Order & Permits

After your selections are finalized, PRQ places the material order directly with our suppliers. We confirm product availability, delivery timing, and ensure all components match the manufacturer specifications and local building code requirements.

At the same time, we handle any necessary permits with your city or county. This includes submitting documentation, scheduling inspections, and coordinating approvals. You won’t need to visit the city office or manage any paperwork—our team takes care of the entire process.

This step ensures everything is legally approved and professionally prepared before installation begins, keeping the project on schedule and compliant from the start.

Material Delivery / Collect Deposits

Before installation day, your roofing materials will be delivered to your home, typically placed neatly in the driveway or another agreed-upon staging area. We’ll notify you in advance so you know exactly when to expect the delivery, and we’ll make sure the supplier places the materials in a safe and convenient location.

At this stage, we also collect any initial deposit required by your insurance carrier or contract. We’ll review the invoice with you so you understand exactly what’s included. Transparency and communication are key—no surprises.

This step ensures your project is fully prepared and financially aligned before work begins.

Schedule Installation

Once materials are delivered and everything is confirmed, we schedule your roof installation. We’ll coordinate timing around weather conditions, crew availability, and your schedule to ensure the project goes smoothly.

You’ll receive a clear installation date and a quick rundown of what to expect. We also provide a direct contact person you can reach the day of installation if anything comes up.

Our goal is a well-planned, predictable installation timeline—no guesswork.

Install Roof / Clean Up

On installation day, our crew arrives early and gets to work removing your old roofing system and installing the new one to manufacturer and code standards. We protect your landscaping, windows, siding, and outdoor belongings throughout the process.

A thorough cleanup is part of the job—not an afterthought. This includes magnets for nails, sweeping, debris removal, and preparing the home to look as good (or better) than when we arrived.

Professional workmanship and a clean property are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Final Inspection from City

After the installation is complete, your city or county inspector will perform a final inspection to ensure the roof meets all building codes and safety standards. PRQ coordinates this inspection and is available to answer any questions the inspector may have.

This verification step protects your home, ensures compliance, and provides documentation that the work was completed to proper standards. You don’t need to be present—PRQ manages the process.

Insurance Supplements

Sometimes, the initial insurance estimate doesn’t include every necessary item required to properly restore your roof. When this happens, PRQ prepares and submits supplemental documentation to your insurance company. This may include photos, code documentation, manufacturer specs, and itemized costs.

This step ensures your project is fully covered, not underfunded. It’s part of how we advocate for homeowners and ensure proper restoration—not shortcuts.

Finalize with Insurance

Once all supplements and final invoice adjustments are approved, we finalize the claim with your insurance carrier. We make sure the project file is complete, accurate, and ready for the release of the final payment from the insurance company.

This keeps the financial process clean and prevents back-and-forth delays. We stay engaged until everything is fully settled—no loose ends.

Collect Final Payment

With the project completed and insurance reconciled, we collect the final payment. This may include the remaining insurance funds and/or deductible, depending on your policy.

We’ll review your final project documents with you so everything is clear and closed out properly. Our goal is to make this step simple, clear, and well-organized.

Receive Roof Warranties

Once the final payment is processed, PRQ registers your manufacturer and workmanship warranties. These documents ensure your new roof is protected moving forward.

You’ll receive digital copies for your records, along with information about coverage, coverage length, and how to use your warranty if needed. This is the final step in completing your project and ensures you have long-term peace of mind.

Other Considerations

Some projects have a few more complications. Here’s how PRQ can help…
Solar Detach & Reset

If your home has solar panels, they will need to be temporarily removed before the roof can be replaced. PRQ coordinates this entire process with certified our solar technicians who specialize in safe panel removal and reinstallation. The system is carefully detached, documented, and stored securely until the new roof is complete.

Once the roof has passed inspection, the solar array is reinstalled and re-commissioned to ensure proper function and energy production. If your solar system has monitoring software, we’ll confirm it’s connected and reporting correctly.

This is a routine part of roof replacement for solar homes, and PRQ manages the scheduling, documentation, and quality control to minimize downtime and protect your investment.

Additional Trades & Exterior Repairs (Windows, Siding, etc)

Many storm claims involve more than just the roof — gutters, siding, fascia, windows, screens, painting, and other exterior features are often included. Once your roof is completed and inspected, PRQ schedules and manages these additional repairs to restore your home to pre-storm condition (or better).

We handle each trade with licensed professionals, coordinate the order of work, and maintain clear communication along the way. You don’t have to contact multiple contractors or line up schedules — PRQ serves as your single point of coordination.

This phased approach ensures every part of your home is completed correctly, efficiently, and with consistent quality across the entire project.

FAQ Section

Learn more about….. — expand any section to dive deeper.
What is your role when the insurance adjuster comes to inspect my property?

Our role is to be your advocate. We will meet your insurance adjuster at your home, on the roof, to ensure a thorough and accurate assessment. We act as a second set of expert eyes, pointing out all storm-related damage, not just to the shingles, but also to vents, gutters, and other components that the adjuster might overlook. This ensures that the scope of work approved by your insurance company is comprehensive and that your property is restored to its pre-storm condition correctly.

Will I have to pay anything beyond my insurance deductible for a full roof replacement?

No. Your deductible is your only out-of-pocket expense for the work approved by your insurance company. Be wary of any roofer who offers to “waive,” “absorb,” or “cover” your deductible, as this is illegal and a sign of insurance fraud. We operate with complete integrity, working with your insurance provider to ensure they cover the full cost of a proper, high-quality replacement, so your only financial responsibility is your deductible.

What happens if my insurance adjuster’s estimate is lower than your quote? Do I have to pay the difference?

This is a very common scenario, and you will not have to pay the difference. Initial insurance estimates often miss key components required by local building codes or use outdated pricing. When this happens, we handle the entire process for you by submitting a supplemental claim. We communicate directly with the insurance company, providing the detailed documentation, photos, and local code requirements to justify the additional costs. Our expertise is in ensuring your insurance provider covers the full cost of a proper, code-compliant roof replacement.
